The NDIA proposed changes to the prices of various services. These changes were confirmed and will come into effect on 1 July 2026.
We usually aim to give you at least 30 days’ notice for any changes. However, in this case, we weren’t able to, as the changes were only recently confirmed in mid June 2026. The NDIA has acknowledged the short timeframe and indicated they will aim to provide more notice in future.
The price changes 2026-27 that might affect your NDIS services at Super Rehab from 1 July are:
1. Changes in Maximum Hourly Rates
From 1 July, maximum hourly rates for Dietetics and Exercises Physiology will be:
| Profession | 2025-26 | 2026-27 |
|---|---|---|
| Dietetics | $178.99 | |
| Exercise Physiology | $161.99 |
There is no change in maximum hourly rates for Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy, and Allied Health Assistants (AHA). The rates will be:
| Profession | 2025-26 | 2026-27 |
|---|---|---|
| Occupational Therapy | $193.99 | |
| Speech Pathology | $193.99 | |
| Physiotherapy | $183.99 | |
| Therapy Assistant L2 | $86.79 |
Why did some rates go down and others stay the same? The NDIA sets therapy prices by benchmarking against Medicare and private health insurance rates — not against award wages. Dietetics and Exercise Physiology rates were sitting above that benchmark range, so they have come down. Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy, and Allied Health Assistant rates were within the benchmark range and remain unchanged. This is a mechanical benchmarking process and does not reflect the clinical value of any service.
2. Travel Charges
Same as 2025-26, travel time (‘labour cost’) will be charged at half the maximum hourly rate for the service. There are no changes to the ‘non-labour’ costs, which include kilometres, tolls, parking fees, and public transport fares. Due to these NDIS changes, we will begin following the NDIS travel rules. These rules are:
Labour Costs (Time Spent Travelling)
We will charge the actual amount of time spent travelling to you, up to a maximum of 30 minutes each way. If we need to return to our regular place of work after your session, we may also charge for return travel (up to 30 minutes). In some cases, total travel time may be shared fairly among you and other participants in your area.
Non-Labour Costs
We will begin charging non-labour costs of travelling to you, which include:
– $0.99 per kilometre for travelling to you and/or return after your session
– Tolls (if applicable)
– Parking (if no free parking is readily available)
– Public transport fares (if this represents the best value for money for your session)
These travel rules have been in place for many years under the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits (PAPL), which provided detailed guidance on how travel and kilometres should be claimed. From 1 July 2026, the PAPL has been replaced by a new document called the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27. Unlike the PAPL, the new Pricing Schedule contains limited detail on how travel and non-labour costs should be applied in practice. We are monitoring any further guidance the NDIA releases and will update you if anything changes. In the meantime, we are continuing to follow the travel rules as they were set out in the 2025-26 PAPL, as this remains the most complete guidance available.
3. New Line Items
From 1 July 2026, the NDIA has restructured how NDIS allied health services are billed across the entire sector. Each support item for relevant therapy discipline now has six separate line items, including direct service, cancellation, non-face-to-face, provider travel, NDIA requested reports and telehealth. See the below Physiotherapy line items as an example:

Based on the new support item numbers, we will be separating clearly travel, telehealth, report writing and non-face-to-face time in our invoices with their own line items for clarity of claim.
This means your invoices from us will look different from 1 July — but this does not mean you are being charged more. The same work that was previously included within your session charge is now shown as separate line items for transparency and compliance with the new NDIS billing structure.
What does “non-face-to-face” mean on your invoice? Non-face-to-face (NF2F) time covers work your clinician does outside of your session that is directly related to your goals — for example, writing clinical notes, preparing a report, or liaising with your care coordinator or GP. We will only charge NF2F time where this work has genuinely been completed for your specific care.
4. A note on the NDIS Reform Bill
The National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 is currently before the Senate. The Bill was introduced to Parliament on 14 May 2026, passed the House of Representatives, and was introduced to the Senate on 12 August 2026. The Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee inquiry into the Bill is due to deliver its final report on 14 August 2026, with a Senate vote possible in the week of 17 to 20 August at the earliest.
The Bill covers a wide range of NDIS reforms. The changes most relevant to participants receiving allied health services are:
– Price limits for unregistered providers — the Bill would give the NDIS Minister the power to make price limits legally enforceable for all providers, including unregistered ones. Currently, registered providers like Super Rehab are already required to follow NDIS price limits. Until the Bill passes Parliament, current NDIS eligibility and planning policies remain in place.
– Changes to eligibility and planning — the Bill includes changes to how the NDIS determines eligibility and how plans are funded. If it passes, the changes roll out in stages between late 2026 and 2028, and most reach individual participants when their plan is renewed, not overnight.
The Bill has not yet passed into law and may be further amended before it does. We will keep you updated on any changes that affect how our services are structured or how your NDIS plan may be impacted.
