About the Training

What is the Safe Mealtime Management Training?

Super Rehab’s Safe Mealtime Management Training is designed to equip care workers, support staff, and carers with the practical knowledge and skills needed to support people with swallowing difficulties safely and confidently.

Led by our experienced Speech Pathologists, this training focuses on recognising dysphagia risks, implementing safe mealtime practices, and responding appropriately when concerns arise. The aim is to improve safety, reduce avoidable incidents, and promote a more positive and dignified mealtime experience for the people being supported.

Why This Training Matters

The risks of unmanaged dysphagia

Swallowing difficulties, also known as dysphagia, can significantly affect a person’s health, safety, nutrition, hydration, and quality of life. Without the right support, risks may include:

Choking
Aspiration pneumonia
Malnutrition & dehydration
Distress during meals
Reduced enjoyment of food
Safe mealtime support requires more than good intentions. Staff need clear, practical guidance to recognise risks, follow mealtime plans correctly, and know when to escalate concerns.
